In 2015, Matt Brown and a local pastor in Louisa, Ky decided they wanted to get together and play basketball. Basketball for them turned into a league. The league turned into a community. That community turned into RISEabove. RISEabove then turned into a regional 501c3 that has raised over $250,000 since it’s conception by doing several events and fundraisers.

Since receiving the grant, $27,000 in mini-grants have gone directly to people whose homes were damaged or lost during the flood. While more money went to organizations that shifted or furthered their mission to help those in need, like CANE Kitchen, Rooted Church, and Appalachia Reach Out.
